HANSON/August – Tough Ruck, a project of Military Friends Foundation 501c3, is a group of military personnel, first-responders and civilians dedicated to keeping the memories of these Fallen Heroes alive and raising funds to immediately assist Massachusetts military families touch by sudden tragedy.

On August 24, Massachusetts Army National Guard Soldier Scott Landis and his brother were planning to sprinkle their late father’s ashes when the plane they were flying crashed on takeoff. Scott Landis, a chief warrant officer, was piloting a single-engine plane with his brother, Patrick. The engine lost power and crashed into a pond, killing Landis and leaving his brother paralyzed from the waist down.

Landis, of Hanson, was stationed in Kosovo with the 3-126 Aviation Alpha Company but was on leave when his father died. CW3 Landis is survived by the love of his life Staci and his beloved 15-month old son Jack. The family will receive support through a Military Friends Foundation grant.

Military and civilians will be taking part in a virtual “Tough Ruck Memorial March” on Friday, August 31st, as a final salute to the 3-tour combat veteran. Each Tough Rucker will carry CW3 Landis’ name on their rucksack.
